ABOUT THE EVENT

The Alliance of Southwest Missouri is excited to host its 5th Annual Safe Kids Downtown Dash and Safety Fair. This FREE event will take place in a new location for 2019.  Races will take place at 16th & Joplin Avenue.  The Event date is Saturday, September 28, 2019. The Fun Run is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The morning will also include a Safety Fair featuring fun activities for all ages.

In partnership with the City of Joplin, The Alliance will be closing Joplin Street the morning of the 28th for the Downtown Dash from 10th through 16th street. Onsite registration for the run will begin at 7:45 a.m., or 30 minutes prior to reporting time.

Grades 4-5     Reporting time: 8:30 a.m.      Race Time:  9:00 a.m.     Distance: Approximately 1 mile

Grades 2-3     Reporting time: 9:00 a.m.      Race Time:  9:40 a.m.     Distance: Approximately 1/2 mile

Grades K-1     Reporting time: 9:30 a.m.      Race Time:  10:10 a.m.    Distance: Approximately 1/4 mile

Some tips when registering:

#1 Race Ticket: Choose how many participants you will be registering

#2 Your Information: This will be the parent or guardian filling out the form.

#3 Participant Information: Fill out an individual form for each participant.

#4 Click Order: This places your order then you are done! You will receive a confirmation via email with tickets attached. You can print off your ticket(s) for a quicker check-in, on race day.

#5 SHARE – Share your check-in with your friends on social media. Get friends and family excited to join you at the race!


FAQs

Are there age requirements to participate in the run?

For a child to race in the dash they must be in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We encourage all schools to attend.  Are your children home schooled?  Yes, they can participate too!  We want everyone to have a great time!

Are parents allowed to run?

Sorry, for safety reasons we want parents to stay on the sidelines. This is a fun run for kids. We want them to feel empowered and good about running all by themselves.  And to help you feel more at ease we will have 60+ volunteers helping around the track and around the safety fair.  Most of our volunteers are coming to us from MSSU track team and can’t wait to help your kiddos on the track have a great time running!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We are unable to provide any transportation, but parking will be available on Main Street and the surrounding streets of the event.
