The History of The Alliance

Have you ever wondered how The Alliance was created?

The Alliance of Southwest Missouri was established in 1998 in Joplin, Missouri, to improve local communities. Missouri’s Family and Children’s Trust Fund (FACTS) decided to start organizations that could serve communities and understand their unique issues locally. A partnership of 20 organizations, including the Alliance, was created to identify needs and allocate funds for said needs throughout Southwest Missouri.

Four counties were assigned to the Alliance: Barton, Jasper, Newton, and McDonald County. Initially, we began with two programs. One focused on car seat training, and the other on substance abuse prevention. We’ve since grown to ten for twenty years. The Alliance of Southwest Missouri is proud to provide services to eighteen total counties through their community-minded programs, events, and fundraisers.

Each year we grow, add new programs, address a different set of needs, and watch our communities improve. We’re grateful for everyone that has contributed to our organization, and we look forward to all the future ways we will impact our communities together.
